Coach Candace Foster, a Jackson native, was a member of the Murrah High girls program that won 3 consecutive state championships. She continued her playing career at Mississippi State University earning 3 All SEC Academic Team selections and becoming a 2 time recipient of the SEC Community Service Team Award. Upon conclusion of her playing career, she served as a graduate assistant to Vic Schaefer’s staff. Candace currently holds both a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from MSU. She becomes the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs after spending one season as an assistant under Stephanie Murphy.
Coach Jazzmine Church is entering her 4th year coaching and her third at Brandon High School. Coach Church has earned a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics at Dillard University and a Masters of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Jackson State University. She was a four year starter at Dillard University where she received many athletic and academic awards including: NAIA All-American, 3 Time All-Conference, 3 Time Team MVP, NAIA Academic Scholar Award, All LSWA Female Collegiate Athlete and Female Athlete of the Year. She also tallied more than 1500 points and 700 rebounds during her time at Dillard. Coach Church loves teaching life lessons through basketball and pushing players to their maximum potential on and off the court. She abides and teaches by the scripture Luke 12:48 “To whom much is given, much is required.”
Coach Jakiala McWilliams is a native of Philadelphia, Mississippi, finishing high school at Neshoba Central where she was a member of the girls basketball team. She furthered her academic and athletic career at East Central Community College where she earned her Associate Degree and was a member of the Lady Warrior basketball team. Coach McWilliams continued her athletic and academic career at the University of West Alabama where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Master’s Degree in School Counseling.
McWilliams began her coaching career as the Head 9th Grade and Varsity Assistant Coach at Meridian High School from 2015-2017. She also spent the 2017-2018 school year as the Head Middle School Girls Coach in Birmingham, AL, at Fairfield Preparatory School prior to joining the Lady Bulldog Basketball staff. McWilliams is beginning her 7th year of coaching and looks forward to the upcoming year as the Head 9th Grade Girls Basketball Coach at Brandon!
Coach Ariel Wilson, a native of Brandon Mississippi, is entering into her second year of Coaching as an assistant Basketball Coach at Brandon High School and a Head a Coach at Brandon middle school.While attending Mclaurin High School she earned many honors such as, being named Team MVP, graduating class salutatorian, and being selected as the only dandy dozen in school history.
Coach Wilson attended both Belhaven (2013-2015) and West Alabama (2015-2017). While attending Belhaven University, Wilson scored 1,134 points and collected 328 rebounds during her two years at Belhaven. She was also a 2x NAIA All-America third team, WBCA NAIA Coaches All-America Honorable mention, 2x First team All SSAC, and SSAC Freshman of the year and SSAC Newcomer of the year. During her time at West Alabama she was also a two year starter tallying a total of 895 points and 296 rebounds. She was also named Second Team All-GSC.
Coach Wilson loves the game of basketball from all standpoints. Whether it’s playing, coaching, or watching. She believes that there are many life lessons to be taught through the sport, and she uses her position of influence to shape the next generation of student athletes to be productive citizens.
