Brandon Cross Country Summer Schedule

The Brandon Cross Country team will begin team practice everyday on ____July 30_______
Runners need to:
  1. Have a physical by the start of practice on _____July 30____________. Cross Country runners can get free physicals on May 12 with other BHS athletes.
  2. Get a good pair of running shoes from a running store. Fleet Feet in Madison is recommended. Tennis and Basketball shoes are NOT running shoes and can result in injuries.
  3. Run mostly on grass or other soft surfaces and avoid the middle of the day. Run in the morning or evening to avoid the summer heat.
  4. Run at an easy talking pace. If you can comfortably talk while running that is the correct pace for building a base of endurance.
  5. A good rule is not to do too much too soon, if you can not make the recommended mileage at first that is alright. If you can do more mileage go ahead, but take it slow.
 
Recommended Summer Mileage:
June
Grades 7-8- Easy jogging pace for 10-15 minutes or 1-2 miles on Monday-Saturday.
Grades 9-12-Easy Jogging pace for 20-25 minutes or 2 miles on Monday –Saturday.
 
July
Grades 7-8-Easy Jogging pace for 20-25 minutes or 2 miles on Monday-Saturday.
Grades 9-12-Easy Jogging pace for 30-40 minutes or 2-3 miles Monday –Saturday.
You lose training effect after two days so try to not miss more than two days of running
 
Summer practice:
The Cross Country team will have team runs at 7:00a.m. on the following days:
June 5,6,7,12,13,14,19,20,21,26,27,28,July 10,11,12,17,18,19,24,25,26,, at Shiloh Park by the flag poles
Practice begins everyday ___July 30_________________.
July 30 is Team Camp. Location is to be determined.
 July 2-6 is dead week so we will not practice on those days
If you have a conflict with those dates it is alright we will work with you and you can still run cross country.
